The Royal Wedding fever isn’t going to fade off anytime soon. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hangover is going to last for a while, let me assure you that 😉
Yes, I’m very much talking about the latest fairy-tale-come-to-life moment of Miss. Meghan Markle,36 and our charming-young-casanova-turned-adult, Prince Harry’s, 33 #royalwedding . It’s fair to say that this wedding was the most anticipated event of the year, with celebrities coming together from all over the world. And especially, an American (half-black) joining the family of Great Britain’s longest reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II is quite a ground-breaking statement.
Everyone knows the love Americans and British have for each other. Perhaps, frenemy was made keeping them in mind. But, talk about breaking barriers? Prince Harry and Meghan have proved the world that love is all it takes.
Ever since their 6 months courtship, Meghan, had become a household British name. The whole world was following her. Everything to her background, ethnicity, fashion, superb acting in Suits and her philanthropic work across the globe. They became the most talked about couple of 2018.
But what charmed me the most was Meghan’s normality and Prince Harry’s child-like personality, coming from his mothers side- the late Princess Diana. I am a huge admirer of Princess Diana and the fact that Prince Harry is so much like her in many ways, makes it even more exciting to see the future of this holy union.
19th May 2018 was the day when the world stopped and tuned into watching the #royalwedding to finally see Cinderella meet her Prince Charming. They got married at London’s St. George’s chapel at Windsor Castle. The perfect breath-taking venue to take the vows of “till death do us apart”. The entire world was celebrating, to say the least.
But, the most exciting part was… WHAT DID THE NEW DUCHESS OF SUSSEX WEAR TO HER WEDDING?
Meghan was looking like a dream. Her fashion icon is Jackie Kennedy and that’s why her style is always simple, classic and relaxed. And that’s exactly how here wedding gown looked too.
Made by Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of French fashion house Givenchy.
The wedding gown features an off-shoulder boat neck with 3/4th sleeves and six perfectly placed seems, paired with a five-meter-long veil with hand-embroidered flora from each of the 53 Commonwealth countries. Wow.
You can clearly see the fine details and beauty of the ensemble. Conservative not risqué, but elegant and beautiful. The 5-meter-long veil just took my breath away. The fact that she could have that on her wedding day, made me cry.
She was walked down to the aisle by Prince Charles. He performed this duty on behalf of Meghan’s father who wasn’t present at the wedding due to ill health.
However, not a single moment was dull! How could it be? Did you see that amazing tiara on her head?
Meghan was wearing Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, on loan from Queen Elizabeth II dating back to 1893. Along with beautiful engagement ring, personal choice of Cartier earrings and bracelet and satin shoes by Givenchy.
Her hair and makeup was done by hairstylist Serge Normant and makeup artist Daniel Martin. They stuck to their brief of messy bun and natural beauty look. Daniel Martin, further mentioned in an interview that they mainly worked on her eyes. Water proof mascara, corner lash extensions, filled in brows, little bit of flush on the cheeks and dap of lip balm. There was no heavy makeup at all. She’s such a natural beauty, she didn’t need much as she was glowing from within. Her décolletage was just making her look even more angelic. Well done I say!
Everything from top to bottom looked iconic on Duchess of Sussex. Not to mention, her best accessory and arm candy, Prince Harry looked dapper in his military uniform at their wedding.
Everyone was present at the wedding, from Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II and the members of royal family to guests like Oprah Winfrey, The Beckham’s, George Clooney and Amal Clooney, Elton John, Serena Williams, Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, Padma Lashmi and many more. Including, Prince Harry’s two ex-girlfriend’s too! Quite the mix of people. Fashion quotient of whom, we will be discussing in the next post.
There was also a private reception of 600 guests, later in the day. Wherein Duchess of Sussex wore a halter neck-backless gown by designer house of Stella McCartney, paired with an aquamarine ring that once belonged to Princess Diana and baby blue Aquazzura pumps. Minimal make up, jewellery and the spruced up messy bun. Stunner. Again!
P.S They had beer pong at their reception with James Corden hosting the event!
Undoubtedly, the royal wedding had many WOW moments! But wedding guests selling their free gift bags, just hours after the wedding on eBay just below my mind. Someone bagged $28,557 for the bag, after 83 bidders raced in the chase.
Wedding of the season it was. Tell me what you think? Are you obsessed to the #royalwedding too?
